A massive surge of migrants sought to cross from Mexico into the U.S. on Thursday, straining resources and patience on both sides of the border as the pandemic-era measure known as Title 42 ended at midnight.

上周四，由于美国在疫情期间所推行的“第42条边境条款（Title 42）”会在当天午夜彻底失效，大批移民试图越过墨西哥进入美国，美墨边境双方的各种资源及人们的耐心都已不堪重负。

For the past decade, migrants seeking asylum have posed the most complex challenge at the border, and it has become one of the most dominant political dilemmas of President Bidens time in office. His administration is now rolling out a revised strategy that relies on a series of carrots and sticks aimed at redirecting migrants away from the border into newly established legal channels.

Meanwhile, federal, state and local government officials are coping with increased numbers of migrants crossing into the U.S., many of them driven by misinformation about whether border rules would get easier or tougher after Thursday.
